Surprises and crises can happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone and everyone will know about them in no time. They are integral features of today’s complex world. It is no longer sufficient to just establish a Risk Management Framework, put in place the Processes and hope for the best. There are important lessons to be learnt in each crisis, especially we know from the recent years that majority of the crises are human-caused. This trend is escalating, but they are not inevitable.

A Risk Manager’s job is no longer associated with insurance, safety, financial or just as a technical specialist. His job is getting broader and one can only be effective if he continues updating himself, learning from others as well as sharing with others.

The Risk and Insurance Management Association of Singapore (RIMAS) is a non-profit organization formed in 1988 to facilitate the flow of ideas and information so as to enhance the level of interest and professionalism in Risk Management. RIMAS is affiliated to international associations like IFRIMA and FAPARMO, and represents Singapore as its industrial body in promoting the understanding of risks and practice of Risk Management, not confining to Risk and Insurance Management. Our council members come from a wide spectrum of various disciplines.

Through conferences, seminars, talks, visits and networking sessions for our members, we hope to contribute to the society by encouraging our members to network and share their experiences and ideas.
