Change and turbulence are now accepted as conditions that organisations today operate in. The world we lived in 25 years ago is a lot different to what we live in today and is characterized by turmoil, complexity and change. Financial crisis, wars, security, natural disasters, food shortages, changing customer expectations, rapid technological advances, outsourcing of materials and services, and ways to address future opportunities are high on the agendas of Public and Private sectors organisations alike.

With a change of state comes a need to change mindsets and develop competences accordingly.The organisational ships we now sail in have to be sleeker, arrive at destinations earlier, provide value for money and efficient service, and give passengers a smooth ride as well as outpacing the competition. As such, the captains, leading hands and crews have to be equipped with the necessary skills in taking the vessel even into unchartered waters in search of new opportunities.

The Risk and Insurance Management Association of Singapore (RIMAS) is a non-profit organisation formed in 1988 to facilitate the flow of ideas, information and knowledge so as to enhance the level of interest and professionalism in Risk Management. RIMAS is affiliated to international associations like IFRIMA and FAPARMO, and represents Singapore as its industrial body in promoting the understanding of risks and practice of Risk Management, not confining to Risk and Insurance Management. Our council members come from a wide spectrum of various disciplines.

Through conferences, seminars, talks, visits and networking sessions for our members, we hope to contribute to the society by encouraging our members to network and share their experiences and ideas. We also grant the title of ARIM to members to recognize their qualification and experience in Risk Management. RIMAS is not only a platform to acquire new knowledge and possibly qualifications , as in the case of someone seeking professional advancement, but also an enabler to encourage practitioners, experts and managers to share their valuable insights and experiences in contribution of knowledge for mutual benefit.
